Description

You are invited to come and join Leopold's Treat on the Beechmont mountain top for an evening of music - and a sunset BIG picnic!

Leopold's Treat are stoked to present their next boutique musical offering, at the gorgeous Providence Farm Hall on Beechmont mountain, with special guests and support from local folk duo BLACK KITE. So, dust off your picnic blanket, wash those dirty dishes (in your picnic basket) and pack yourself some treats for a musical adventure up the mountain.

"I've always loved the mountain hall and her views, and since moving to the area in early 2018, i dreamt of hosting one of our soiree style band events there. The panoramic views spanning east to west are stunning, so sunset will be the perfect time to have a picnic on the grass in between musical offerings! We are grateful to the owners who have kindly opened their venue doors for our end of year celebration." - Kate Leopold, Leopold's Treat.

This is an all weather event and we look forward to getting a little creative in the space, with the formation of a colourful human mandala, and you can be a part of it!! In part, this is to show support for our friend Mark Runkovski, who has founded his own charity called 'ART VISION ISTANBUL', where he raises funds to deliver art supplies and creative workshops to refugee kids in Istanbul to improve their quality of life in tough times! We will also be celebrating an incredible year for the band, having played epic shows at this years Bleach Festival and Commonwealth Games events, as well as a handful of smaller house concerts and more recently the Botanical Bazaar Garden Festival and the 'Restoration Celebration' in Brisbane where people from over 150 landcare groups around Brisbane came together to celebrate their years efforts in giving back to the land. We have also been active behind the scenes with new recording projects and video content on the way as we speak (so there may be a special preview just for you!!).

We will bring our unique creative ambience to the hall, with fairy lights and forest themes, sharing with you a few new treats as well as some of our old favourites and perhaps a special guest or two. We will also have a unique display of some of the art created in Mark's Art Vision Istanbul Projects and you will discover how you can support this wonderful cause. We are excited to support Art Vision Istanbul and will contribute a proportion of ticket sales to the cause - so THE MORE, THE MERRIER. Come and sing with us!

LEOPOLD'S TREAT are a six piece band who came together in 2011 to record their first EP 'It Goes By...'. They have since released a full length album 'Cold River' (2015), played countless shows and also took home the 2016 'Emerging Artist of the Year' at the Gold Coast Music Awards, where they were runners up in two other categories. They have recently been in the studio recording new songs and have a number of video projects on the way.

BLACK KITE are Linda Angledal and Murray Webber. They have been wooing crowds with their beautiful guitar strings and harmonies around the local scene for the past two years. Says Linda "Murray and I are deepening our musical journey and excited to share some of our originals and a couple of covers with you."

ART VISION ISTANBUL - Sanat Vizyon Istanbul (or in English, Art Vision Istanbul) consists of a small group of dedicated individuals who see art as a means for peace and healthy mental development amongst refugee children living in Turkey. Based in Australia and Turkey, they are working together raising funds to provide art equipment for kids on the streets. From canvases and paintbrushes to recording equipment and cameras - they want painting, drawing, singing, dancing, poetry and photography to flood the streets of Istanbul!

***Through these soiree events, we aim to bring people together for a unique and connected musical experience, sharing songs and stories for the earth, for healing, for living more sustainable lives and cultivating a beautiful humanity. So lets get together and have some fun with heart-music on the mountaintop. Your ticket includes entry to our LUCKY DOOR PRIZE DRAW and complimentary tea and fresh mountain water! The idea is that everyone BRINGS THEIR OWN (WASTE FREE) PICNIC to enjoy together on the grass over sunset! Refreshing, healthy (non-alcoholic) beverages will also be available for purchase (please BYO cups!). We always endeavour to minimise waste at our events, so please bring along your [picnic basket with] plates/cups/cutlery. NO DISPOSABLE'S PLEASE.***
